Thought for the day

Coming in to work to find a colleague changing her baby's diaper on your desk gives a whole new meaning to the phrases, "I don't need this shit," "I don't believe this shit," and "Get your shit off my goddamn desk."

You know Angel totally does that to Wesley in an episode of "Angel," right?

I mean, ahh, changes the baby on his desk.

LOL, what a great start to the day - with a laugh! (Well, for me in hearing this story. Not so much for you coming into working to see such a display.)

What did you say to this colleague?

There was muttering and sputtering and my esteemed colleague got really pissy when I politely declined her offer of a baby wipe to clean off my desk. I told her I needed one of the Clorox antibacterial wipe things "because of the health risks." This chick breast-feeds and she insists that her kid's shit is pristine and pointedly told me that women with children know these things.

You'd never know it from the amount of whining I do on LJ, but in RL I'm one hell of a nice person. Honestly. Animals and kids like me, old people ask me to help them find the Grape Nuts in the supermarket, and at the office I'm known for being The Funny Person At Work. But this really pissed me off. I mentioned something to a supervisor, who agreed to talk to this chick and tell her to use the damn changing station in the restroom. Oy.

There's this syndrome going around. It's called narcissism. I think this mother has it.

Or punch drunk baby love.

One of the two.

Or both.

I understand that they do need to be changed quite often but why didn't colleague use her own desk? Also, did you share this thought with colleague?

Her desk was covered in papers, and mine was clear. Apparently the changing station in the ladies room was "too far" and "too inconvenient." This woman works days and I work nights, so I wonder if she's done this kind of thing before when the baby's been in the office. (I had to go in early yesterday, which is the only reason our schedules overlapped.) We had one hell of rotten winter, healthwise, in my department, with people getting sick all the damn time. Some of it was what we thought was stomach flu, but honestly, now I wonder if it weren't from fecal bacteria or something. (Most of us eat at our desks ( ... )

As a horse person I have access to shit in quantities this woman can't imagine -- I oughta bring a trash bag of manure-destined-for-fertilizer in and store it on her desk.
--- This mental image is JOY.

Heh. "It's not dirty! His diet is vegetarian! Organic! Just grass and hay and a little grain!"
