Neo Genesis Vol.30
Kagrra, x Gazette Interview
Part 4/4
---Well, if you all go drinking, who talks the most?
Nao: None of us talk, I think.
Kai: By the way, I haven't seen those two really drunk before.
Nao: Ahh, yeah. Because we don't drink that much at those sorts of places.
Kai: Do you normally drink?
Nao: I drink, I drink a lot.
Reita: Does Izumi hold his alcohol well?
Izumi: As much as anyone else...
Nao: I can't stop when I'm drinking with our manager.
Reita: What are you like?
Nao: I get in a really good mood. But if I get past a certain point, I start making speeches. (laugh)
Reita: Ah~ that's kind of bad, huh?
Nao: Didn't you guys say that the members of Gazette don't really drink?
Reita: When we drink, we actually lose energy. When Kai's drunk, he'll hit his head on a urinal. (laugh)
Kai: That happened a while ago. But now, I refrain from drinking.
Reita: When I didn't drink, Kai instigated me, saying "You, why aren't you drinking!?" I had no choice so I drank, but when I looked around, he'd already gone straight to the toilet. (laugh)
---Hahaha. Well then, what would you four do if you went out without drinking?
Reita: I'd like to go out to eat.
Kai: It's ok if there's alcohol there.
Nao: I'd like to go on a trip somewhere. Like Okinawa... But not by plane, by ferry.
Reita: Ohh, that's right. You don't like flying do you?
Nao: No, I don't.
Izumi: But you don't like boats either, do you? (laugh)
Nao: (laugh)
Reita: That reminds me, when everyone in PSC went to Hawaii they had a dinner on-board the boat, but Nao said he didn't like boats so he didn't come, remember?
Nao: That's right. I'd experienced an on-board dinner before when the boat shook quite a bit, so I told them "I'm not going."
Reita: Certainly. Because in the end, I also got sea-sick before we ate. (laugh)
Kai: That's because in the car on the way to the studio, (Reita) just checked his phone.
Reita: That's right. The moment you said "look at the map," I was like "Ugh." (laugh)
Kai: That happened pretty quickly. (laugh) But definitely, when Nao was on the plane to Hawaii, his eyes didn't look normal. Weren't the part of the wings you could see out the window shaking slightly?
---I see. I've accidentally seen that before.
Kai: You're definitely scared when you see it, but seriously, I was like "is the plane alright like that?" (laugh)
Nao: It's not cute when it does things like that. It's like [a really loud] "FLAP, FLAP." (laugh)
Reita: And it seemed like Nao was holding onto the arm of the person next to him really tightly. It would have been nice if I'd sat next to Nao, but I wouldn't have deserved that. (laugh)
Nao: Reita, you've just became really amazing. (laugh)
Kai: And because of that, we've come to the conclusion that everyone will just walk everywhere. (laugh)
Nao: If it's nearby, that'd be good. If it's nearby.
Izumi: Let's start in our neighbourhood first. (laugh)
---I see. Well then, lastly, please tell us about the live at Budokan happening on the 3rd of January.
Kai: Very few events like these with everyone in the company involved are held, so if we can put on a live where each artist has their time to shine, I think we'll all be able to grow from it. Of course, I think everyone wishes for lives like that, but I think this will the best to way to do it.
Nao: But it's been 10 years (since the establishment of the company), and it's like "[It's all happened] so fast!" It's been around 8 years since we were signed up, but it's like "it's already been 10 years?" It's adding to our wrinkles. (laugh)
---(laugh) Really? I feel that you haven't changed at all, but are actually rejuvinated.
Nao: Yeah, but it's been 10 years that have gone really quickly. I do think we'll continue on for 20, 30 years, but next year's Budokan live is really kind of a festival.
---And the title is "Peace and Smile Carnival."
Nao: That's right. If we have fun, I think the audience will naturally follow suit.
---But when Kagrra, joined the agency 8 years ago and other bands joined, did you ever imagine that you'd be doing a live at the Budokan?
Nao: Rather than imagining, I just feel that time has passed by quickly. When we first joined the agency, there was only a small room with 4 desks in it, and like a photocopier right in the middle.
Izumi: We did our makeup in there as well.
Kai: That's right.
Nao: After that, a lot of other bands joined and it went by really fast, didn't it?
Izumi: Yeah. At first, Dué le quartz and Kagrra were the only bands signed up. It then started after that; bands the agency sought out joined, and there were also bands that disbanded, but [the agency] kept on going. This live marks the turning point of 10 years, so even though Nao said it before, it's a festival.
---Yeah, that's right.
Izumi: And we can do this sort of thing because the agency has a future, so I want to make it a live where we celebrate the 10th anniversary without thinking too much about it. Also, there may be a difference of status between the older and younger bands, but what would be best is if the bands playing could simply enjoy themselves, as well as the people who have come to see them.
Reita: That's right. It's the first event for the year, so I'd like it to have a nice feel. Also, it's been 5 years since we entered the agency, but I'd like to show all the people who come, as well as the artists we'll be playing alongside and the staff, just how much we've grown in that time.
---There are hardly any anniversary events like this, so will you be forming any session bands?
Nao: Should we? (laugh)
Kai: If we let people know, I think their excitement for the event will lessen, so at the moment it's just wait and see.
