Time to revive this comm! *Prepares defibrillator*
Much has happened since I last posted a proper fan fiction, I apologise for all those filler posts! *bows deeply* Anyway, time to guess which show I just finished! (Fine, the answer is in the following lines after this one.)
Title: Resonance
Fandom: Tantei Galileo
Pairing: None
Summary: Part of the Physics 101 series. Resonance: The effect achieved when forcing frequency = natural frequency of driven oscillator.
Warning: Pointless and plotless
I'm aware some of you may not have seen Tantei Galileo before, so here's a little info to get you through this:
Utsumi Kaoru - Police Detective. Always asks Yukawa for help in seemingly impossible cases. Most likely has a crush on Yukawa, but you don't need to know that here.
Yukawa Manabu - Associate Professor of Physics at Teito University. Has 5 students in the lab. He's often called Weird Galileo because of his obsession with physics and strange behaviour around others.
Kuribayashi Hiromi - Assistant Professor (I think) of Physics at Teito University, Yukawa's assisstant. He hates it when Utsumi asks Yukawa for help in cases since it distracts him from his research and lessons.

Detective Utsumi briskly walked towards the familiar Lab 13 of the Teito University campus. Same old route, same old scenery, same old students gawking at her. Of course, she paid no heed to the distractions around her, she had work to do.
“Yukawa-sensei! I need your help for another case!” was what she was planning to say. Or at least, until she heard the distinct sound of glass breaking coming from within the laboratory. Fearing the worst, she hastily groped around her belt for the handle of her pistol (which she just couldn’t seem to pull out) and burst through the door.
“FREEZE! POLICE!”
She pointed at the robber, who... wasn’t there. She blinked, the short burst of adrenaline running out, allowing her mind to clear. Before her stood 6 very terrified students and lab assistant and 1 indifferent physicist. A very high pitched sound was being emitted from a speaker on the table, with a shattered wine glass vibrating slightly in its path. She slowly lowered her pistol and grinned sheepishly, trying to change the topic quickly.
“Yukawa-sensei, I-”
“You’re just in time. I was just demonstrating the effect of resonance to my students. You see, when the external driving frequency is slowly increased from a small value, the amplitude of the driven system increases to a maximum. That is when resonance occurs. If the...”
As Yukawa continued his alien babble and began scribbling even more alien symbols on the blackboards, Utsumi decided to wait this one out and sat at a bench, playing with the remaining wine glasses. Kuribayashi took a seat next to the police detective (still shaky from the incident earlier) and pried the fingerprint-covered wine glass from her hands.
“What was THAT about!? You almost gave me a heart attack, you know!”
“I thought a robber came in here to steal something and broke something, you know like in one of those TV shows...” Utsumi ran a finger around the rim of another wine glass, clearly trying not to show her utter embarrassment at what she had done.
“I told you before, you watch too much TV. These sort of things can’t possibly happen in real life.” Yukawa stated, before resuming his physics lesson.
“See? Impossible! Now get out, the professor is busy!” Kuribayashi shoo-ed her away, but she resisted, yelling across the lab as she was being ‘shown’ out of the cramped laboratory.
“But Yukawa-sensei! I can’t solve this case at all! A man was found at the bottom of a lake-”
Yukawa ignored the woman. “... the electrons in a radio receiving area are forced to vibrate...”
“-and during his autopsy-”
“... for the particular frequency being used, then the amplitude...”
“-his insides were completely roasted from within!”
The scraping sound of chalk on blackboard halted instantly. “Roasted? Truly interesting.”
A certain assistant facepalmed.

And yes, I'm planning to do one for every Physics topic I'm studying for 'A' Levels. =D
