this bothers me too. it's not like holiday is short for "holy day" or anything...or that it was decided to celebrate Christmas during Saturnalia instead of when events really happened b/c people were used to celebrating then and because the chances of persecution would be down. i wouldn't necessarily call them angry, selfish people...but i would call them ignorant people who aren't acting in the love their leader so encouraged. it really frustrates me.

they are angry because they are boycotting stores and buissnesses and they are selfish because they want it their way, and nobody else's

Yeah, I have nothing against naming Christmas things "Christmas." For example, a "Christmas Tree" is for Christmas. In your house you can have "Christmas Carols" and "Christmas movies" because they deal specifically with...ta da-Christmas. What gets me is people who rail against deparment stores for putting up "Happy Holiday" signs. Deparment stores like Target reach many people across the U.S. and not just Christians; and they should not exclude people(for both humanitarian and business reasons). Faith Bookstore has every right if it wants to to put up a Merry Christmas sign because it tailors to a Christian consumer hence not many people of different faiths come to thier store and they have the right to exclude because Jews aren't shopping there anyways. Elizabeth you are right, people are most ignorant. And you as well, Leslee I would call it selfishness. But I find it both odd and sad that people can be both ignorant and selfish in a season(Christmas and Hanukkah) that are about selflessness.
