I finally got the time to sit down for a minute and look at this post (before I dash off again...). I have an awful gut-twisting feeling that if I click on the links I'll find...well, what we both know I think I'll find. Erk. Right, I shall read them soonish (ish) and do me damnedest to be as er um impartial as possible...
...ohh-kayy. I've read a couple of chapters now, and will read the rest later as a mark of respect for a dear friend. (I owe you a phone call BTW - forgot that my card had expired, oops. I now have a fresh one :-) ). There's nothing I feel would be right to say here - as opposed to in private - but I do have to ask one question of you and, by inference, all who perpetrate fanfic: if you read a fic as if it were a fresh piece, i.e. as if you were reading about characters you'd never heard of, does it read smoothly and interestingly? In other words, if you picked up said piece as part of a published work in a bookshop or library and decided to have a shufti at a few pages, would you find the writing therein compelling enough to move you to buy/borrow the book?
~wanders off to abuse one of her paying students, muhahahaha~
Hah! I still am fascinated by the idea of your eventually doing a Chronsfic...because you can write, despite your protestations. Have you ever considered that "living, breathing" characters might inspire you to reach new levels of writing ability? :-)
As for the forthcoming HP film - gorgeous poster. I'll wait until any friends of similar tastes to mine see it first when it comes out, so I can get an idea if it's likely to be unadulterated shite like the first two, or large fun like the third...
Students, erk. Strangle strangle beat-with-cluebat. And yet I *love* teaching! How odd.
