Apr 26, 2011 01:57

[It's been about a day since Ororo made it to Cherrygrove. She, like everyone else, received one of those mysterious eggs yesterday morning. She's listened to the 'Gear enough to figure that it would eventually hatch into yet another one of the Pokémon, so she's kept it near her at all times.]

[Currently, she's sitting by a tree on the outskirts of ( Read more... )

[And this would be Death, looking down from where she's currently perched on a tree branch, legs dangling. 'sup travelmate.]

Egg's about the size of a pokeball, isn't it? [a hum in consideration] Then, maybe, being inside a pokeball might feel a little like being rocked in a cradle-- if you catch my drift.

Hello, Dee. [Glancing up, smiling.] I hadn't thought of it like that. One would hope that it is that comfortable for them.

Well, I'd like to think that people aren't as horrible as, well, people think they are. [grin] When they made these things, they must've had the pokemon's comfort in mind.

I do hope so. [glancing at the tiny ball, and then at the Dratini curled up in the blankets beside her.] It's just a little difficult to imagine, when the size difference is rather great.

[Naoki smiles faintly at the words. Part of him has wondered at the question, fretted about pitting his Pokémon against others, and eventually he shifts his shoulders upward in a shrug. A Houndour pokes her head up, peering interestedly into the feed.]

It's strange...but I think the Pokémon themselves enjoy it. At least, Shisa here keeps dragging me into fights. Maybe that's where they got the idea for gym leaders and trainers and all that...

[humming thoughtfully.] Perhaps the training and battling is some way to curb some more violent tendencies.

[... okay, she has to chuckle a little at that.] I'm sorry, even I think that sounds rather ridiculous.

Maybe so. [Pokémon are such thrill-seekers.

He pinkens at the laugh and rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.] Y-yeah. I'm not sure at all where the idea came from. I wonder if there's any books about it.

[Pokémon need better hobbies.]

[Ororo smiles gently at his actions, hoping to make him more comfortable since apparently she's gone and made him turn pink... somehow.]

We'll just have to see, won't we? I think it would be worth checking out.

That particular opinion appears to be gaining in popularity nowadays.

[A sniff, which clearly conveys just what she thinks of that opinion.]

However, I do know for a fact that a certain individual here is considering replacing battles with tennis tournaments.

Pardon, but... tennis tournaments?

Indeed. I trust you have heard of the sport?

I have indeed. It's not one that I play often, but I am familiar with it.

But replacing battles with tennis?

I know what you mean. I didn't particularly like the notion of pokémon battles either at first but a few of mine want to fight, so I figure I should let them.

[There's a small motion, almost like a shrug.]

Not all that we want could be good for us. Would it not be the same way for them?

Possibly, but the rules we are used to hardly apply here. Perhaps fighting is part of what they do by nature - it certainly doesn't seem to harm them in any way.

Yes, that is what I've been told. It is the principle of the matter that bothers me, mostly, but I suppose there is not much we can do...

Most of the pokémon I have seen appear to enjoy fighting.

And most of the trainers here seem to care too much about them to make a pokemon fight if they don't want to.

That's certainly good to hear. As long as they are not forced to do anything against their will, I suppose...

[It still doesn't sit all that well with her, but.]

I found it strange myself, but after spending a while with my pokémon it was easy to see which ones were comfortable with it and which ones weren't.

They can be really communicative.

That's true. I was rather surprised at how expressive they are.
