PAPER PLANES

Flick. Flick. Flick.

“Dammit.”

Flick. Flick. Flick. Flick.

“Dammit!”

Flick. Flick.

The balcony door opened behind Kibum, as he hurried to stash away the cigarette and lighter somewhere.

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell.” Kiseop sat down on the balcony, the two watching the lights of the city from high above.

The group was told they were going on a vacation, but with upcoming promotions, a new TV show, and dozens of other things going in their daily routine, the boys were more stressed than ever, to the point that the night’s schedule was cancelled due to Kevin having an emotional breakdown. Then again, those happened a lot, Kiseop hazarded a guess of at least once a month.

Kibum took out the cigarette again, and attempted to light it. After a few unsuccessful attempts, the other boy finally lent a helping hand, cupping a hand around the lighter’s flame.

“Thanks. Want one?”

Kiseop shook his head, and instead took out a pad of paper with a pen. Jotting down a short note on the pad, he ripped it off, folded it into a paper plane, and sent it flying off the balcony.

“...what was that about?”

“Paper planes. When I have something I want to get off my chest, I put it on a plane and send it off. Then, I know I can tell someone that has no idea what’s going on.”

“Oh...” Kibum smiled. “What was on that one?”

“I hate the smell of smoke.”

“Oh.” Just as quickly as the smile appeared on his face, it disappeared, as he immediately put out the cigarette.

The two sat in silence for a while, Kiseop staring at his pad of paper, Kibum staring out at the lights of a skyscraper. Suddenly, Kibum took the pad, and began to write.

Sometimes, I look at the world and feel completely insignificant.

Folding up the page, he threw it off straight in front of him, aiming for the same skyscraper. Kiseop took the pad back.

I hate how clingy Kevin is sometimes.

Kibum let out a loud laugh, ripped off the paper and shot off the resulting paper plane in the direction of Kevin’s balcony.

“HEY!” Kiseop shouted, jokingly jabbing at Kibum’s arm. Kibum wrote another note.

Xander’s cologne smells like a girl should be wearing it.

Taking the moment for revenge, Kiseop sent this one to the balcony of Xander’s room. When it actually landed there, however, Kibum yelled “SHIT!” and the two ducked beneath the stone wall of the balcony’s edge. However, Kiseop wrote another note.

The person I like is completely oblivious to the fact that I like them.

Kibum took the pad back, not even letting the other rip off the page.

The person that I like is completely oblivious to the fact I like him.

Kibum passed the pad back, letting out a small chuckle. Truth be told, he was actually nervous for the response to come back. What if Kiseop didn’t like him back? How would their relationship changed? Sure, they weren’t as affectionate as, say, Eli and Kevin, but when the cameras went off, the two had an interesting bond, one that Kibum wanted to try and take to the next level.

Kiseop handed the pad back, for Kibum to read the note that was left on it.

I don’t even know if the person I like is gay.

Kibum wrote: I do.

The page was ripped, and sent off the balcony once again.

Kibum wrote one more note: The person I like is Kiseop.

Once again, the pad is handed back to Kiseop, and he quickly writes:

The person I like is Eli.
