Opening his eyes, Kevin took in his unfamiliar environment. The walls were white, and an unfamiliar smell invaded his senses. It was overwhelming, but not in the sense that it was incredibly good or bad. Just...new, was all. Breathing in, he felt an ache in his side, and suddenly images of the attack flooded through his memories. As much as he didn’t want to look at the world after what had happened, he forced his eyes slightly further open, attempting to figure out exactly where he was.

“Oh, you’re finally coming to?” a friendly voice asked to his right. Looking next to the bedside table, he noticed a familiar man sitting next to him in a chair.

“Where am I?” Kevin blinked, slowly trying to make sense of it all.

“Hospital. You’ve been out for a while. Broken nose, your ribs were cracked right open bad concussion, bruises all over. It’s a good thing he brought you in when he did.” The doctor turned from the charts he was studying to flash a quick smile to Kevin, who was still slightly disoriented.

“I’m sorry...but, who did you say brought me in here?”

“The man’s name is Kiseop. He’s waiting outside if you’d like to meet him. He’s been worried sick about you ever since he first saw you.”

Kevin smiled warmly at the thought of a man kind enough to save him from the brink of death.

“Sure, let me see the man who saved my life.” Kevin laughed a little, until becoming fully aware that his ribs hadn’t quite healed yet.

The doctor exited, closing the door behind him. A few moments later, the man that Kevin assumed to be Kiseop walked in. Kiseop seemed somewhat shy upon first glance, but upon careful analysis, he seemed to have made careful, conscious choices about his appearance that simultaneously screamed I’m just a normal person who happens to look good and I’m actually an ulzzang, pay attention to me please.

“H...hi.” Kevin stuttered, taken aback by the other man’s looks.

“Well hello there, sunshine. Feeling any better?” Kiseop laughed in relief, seeing this man he barely knew, but somehow still cared about, actually able to function.

Kevin smiled at the older man, nodding a quick yes, trying not to say more, for fear of stumbling over his words like a rag doll trying to run hurdles.

“That’s good to hear. Is there anything you want me to get for you? A magazine, some food, coffee...”

“...your phone number.” Kevin blurted out, quickly covering his mouth. Kiseop found himself laughing harder, while taking Kevin’s phone and programming in his number, while Kevin blushed to the point of looking sunburnt.

“There you go.” Kiseop said, placing the phone in Kevin’s hand after sending a message to himself from the number. “Anything else I can get you?”

Kevin mumbled against the hand on his mouth, keeping a death grip for fear of saying something just as stupid as his previous turn in the conversation.

“Well how about this. After you’re out of here, we go for coffee. Just the two of us. I saved your life, now I want to get to know the person who I figured was worth saving.”

If there was a way Kevin could physically blush harder, he was doing so right now. He nodded yes, with the hand still clasped around his mouth, the seal as tight as a gasket.

“Great, then let me know when you’re out?”

Another nod.

“Alright, I guess I’ll see you around...text me if there’s anything you need, I’ll be happy to help!” Kiseop said. With a wink, Kiseop left the room.

As soon as Kiseop was gone, Kevin smacked himself for being such a horrible flirt.
