I kind of hate facebook because I feel like I have to censor myself a lot more there than I do here. Livejournal will have to continue to be my place of actual writing down of emotions. I still use FB because my family and friends do, but right now when I need to actually write something of substance, it looks like I'll be back to using livejournal for awhile. At least for that.

It really did have an interesting, cool soundtrack - though the way they switched it from scene to scene could be jarring, it made sense and fit. I kept noticing the soundtrack while watching it and going, "Huh, even though this is really a fucked up scene...I like this song, anyhow."

It did a good job on so many fronts, as a really well directed film and as a strong story that for all of its horribleness needs to be fully told to be fully understood.

Well, for one thing it was heterocentric to the point where it was outright insulting to gays and lesbians in a relationship (Plus, the use of the word 'gay' to denote femininity or stupidity is tired and needs to be struck out of the common lexicon). It contradicted itself by suggesting that "men are like this and women are like that" and then completely failing to show that as a truth, considering exactly how different the two characters were from the supposed archetype (and I know, it was trying to say they were different because they were 'unique' but to me they seemed like a great number of couples - both heterosexual and homosexual - in this day and age, where one person takes on the more aggressive role and acts like the 'typical male' (in this case, it was Summer) while the other is a hopeless romantic, etc so I don't see the point in even trying to say that men act one way and women act a different way ( ... )
