Who are you?

Here is a small sampling of people on my friends list who I do not recognize. If you see your name, or the name of someone you know, chime in?

I know who landicine is, but probably shouldn't post his identity on a public journal entry. E-mail sent!

I don't know who issendai is, but I definitely remember reading their website many years ago, like, we're talking middle school age. Specifically, the page about Japanese basics that they wrote back in 2000? That was where I started learning the language, I think.

Whoa.

Oh god, the days of my youth! (...My very extended youth.) I hope you fared better with the language than I did.

I don't recognize you either, Rigel. I'm local, so maybe we met at Arisia or another con? Or possibly I friended you for the content of your journal? You're not listed as my mutual friend, so I don't know whether we were ever friends, or whether I was just following you. In any case, if you'd prefer that I unfriend you, I'm cool with it.

I...uh...gosh, you replied. o.o;;;;;

Yes, I went on to learn a lot more of the language than that page on my own before eventually studying it for three years in college and capping it off with an internship at Toei.

So, yeah, I did something with it. :-)

But, uh, wow. Thank you for being awesome in the distant past. :D

*grin* LJ sent me a notification that someone mentioned me. Otherwise, I would never have seen this post. No idea why they told me you mentioned me, but not that Rigel mentioned me... Very odd. Sorry for looming up at you from the depths of the internet.

Toei? I'm officially impressed. That's awesome.

You're welcome! Glad my page started you on the path to kicking linguistic ass.
