Time was passing a lot quicker with Christine in his life and home than he had anticipated it would. She was, honestly, a delight to have. Though he knew she and Joanna were still a way off comfort with each other, he was pleased to see that their relationship was something a little less frosty.

He was enjoying teaching Christine about medicine. He enjoyed their conversations, and the ease with which they had them. She was company he was sorely going to miss when she returned home.

He was running a tad late before the dance. Work had caused his time to run away from him, having him returning home little more than an hour before it started. He'd said his hello to Christine before departing to wash, change and trim the scruff growing on his face.

He'd be ready in time, but only just.

After washing up and dressing herself, Christine had set herself with the task of wrangling Joanna into her best dress and making the girl stand still while Christine sat on Joanna's bed to brush and braid her hair.

When the front door opened, Joanna sucked in a lungful of air, ready to shout a greeting, but Christine was anticipating that, and quickly said, "No! A lady doesn't bellow." Joanna stamped her foot and let out a "Humph!" but didn't argue.

He made his way through to find his daughter, and Christine, hat in his hands. Standing outside of Joanna's bedroom, he cleared his throat and quietly rapped on the doorframe. "It decent fer me to come in?"

"Yes, we're all dressed," Christine called back as she finished tying off the ribbon in Joanna's hair.

"There; show your Papa your lovely dress." Joanna was only too eager to skip over towards the door to spin and twirl for Leonard. While she did this, Christine put Joanna's hairbrush away and smoothed her hands down her own dress.
