[locked to notaphysicst] Put on Your Dancing Shoes

After her talk with Leonard, Christine felt re-energized. She attacked her work with fervor, not because she wanted to forget the bad things that had happened to her, but because she hoped it would make the shift go faster. When it finally did end, she booked time on the holodeck for that evening and picked a program, hurried to the mess hall to ( Read more... )

He looked over his shoulder to the table to the PADD he'd put on the table, an antique novel in his hands. 'Finally.' Leonard thought to himself before picking it up and reading it. Eight o'clock, holodeck. He was already dressed nice, he just had to do the final touches and he was good. There was still ten minutes left to go anyways ( ... )

The holodeck doors opened to a carpeted staircase leading down to a parquet dance floor surrounded by tables and chairs. She had thought it best to leave out the holographic people, since Leonard probably wouldn't want to dance in front of even fake people. The computer was set to play music at her verbal command, and she was sitting at one of the white table-clothed tables, legs crossed and waiting.

At the sound of the doors opening followed by her name, she smiled and pushed out her chair to stand, smoothing down her dress.

"Hey! What do you think?"

Leonard walked in, his shoes clicking loudly on the floor of the people-empty room. It was pretty grand, like ballrooms he'd seen on the crappy holo-vid he had at his family's house. He'd never been in one, and he wondered if this counted, since it was just a hologram.

Looking over when he heard the chair scrape a bit against the flooring, he swallowed a bit. She had definitely dressed nice, in a purple dress and matching accessories.

Clearing his throat a little, Leonard walked over and then looked around at the scenery. "It's fancy, real fancy. I never thought I'd actually be standin' in a room like this. Just seen stuff like this on the holovid at home, back when I was in school."

"Not too fancy that it puts you off, I hope?" she questioned, looking around the room too. "I like the look of it. The holovid feel, the dressing up, all of it... it makes me happy." She had said early that dancing made her happy, and while she could dance around her own quarters and be content, the whole act like they were out at an event just improved her mood tenfold. She never could resist a party where one had to dress up.
