I would say no, since it is considered to be be a reigional grouping of islands and a continent, by definition is aa large continuous land mass.

Sometimes Oceania is interchanged with Australia, but it's not common here in the US.

In my classroom we taught that Oceania was an area; Australia was the continent. I personally love to say Oceania...lol

Thank you ladies! I knew I hadn't been taught the wrong thing all these yrs. I googled this question the other day...one individual actually thought there was only SIX continents. He lumped the americas in as one! One individual said Oceania doesnt exist and that it's only a BOOK.
