I would think you need to wash them THEN sterilize them. But what the hell do I know, last time I tried to sterilize my nipples, I burned the shit out of my self *note to self* no boobs in a boiling pot of water LOL (weird mood myself)

I just dont get how they can be as clean as if they were done by hand with a bottle brush, even getting soapy water running through the teat, which cant be possible through a dishwasher. I guess I'm fanatical about cleaning them lol.

A lot of dummies say not to sterilize in a dishwasher on the packaging.

I stopped sterilising when Josiah started on solids. I've always washed his bottles in really hot soapy water with a bottle brush, then rinsed in hot water.

Bottles and Dummys.... yoohoo_itsmel September 19 2008, 10:27:12 UTC
I guess I need to confess... my babies are grown, but sterilizing bottles wasn't my most favorite thing to do. It annoyed me. LOL I guess I figured if a glass it clean enough for me washing it in a sink... it would of been ok for the baby too. But my hubby and his mom saw that I did things the right way... thank goodness. LOL I sterilized things for the first 6 months till I accidently sterilized Nicks plastic bottles without any water in the sterilizer. LOL OOPS! He was about 8 months old by then so I decided he would be ok with washed bottles in the sink. :)
