One in 136 people in PRISON

The United States prison population is growing by 1,000 people per week, according to new figures just released by the federal government. Almost 2.2 million people - or one in every 136 U.S. residents - are behind bars. In fact, the U.S. has more people in prison for drugs than all Western European counties have in prison for all crimes.

has there been any polling on that Nevada initiative? does it look like it will pass? seems like if they can get 69,000 valid signatures (out of a population of only 2 million?) that's like 1 in 29 people who actually signed the petition, and probably much higher % if you just count eligible voters, so it sounds like it might actually stand a reasonable chance on the ballot... sweet!
