Any Overlord needs a clever, devious and ambitious demon for a right-hand, and who better than the Beauty Queen herself, Etna~
As a young demon when she first started serving as a servant in the castle, her life hadn't been too good. She was almost ready to give up on life when King Krichevskoy, Laharl's Father, reached out to her. He was a great demon, who Etna quickly respected and admired, serving him loyalty. Then the King met a human women and fell in love then married her. Etna started to hate the queen, as the King slipped somewhere she felt she couldn't reach, then the Prince was born. Etna was torn about how to feel about the prince. Before she could deal with her feelings towards the queen, they ended when the queen sacrificed herself for Laharl.
It can be assumed she continued to serve the King until the fateful day the King went to stop an invasion from an alternate Netherworld and seal Baal. He returned, his power drained away. Etna was ready to sacrifice herself for him, as the Queen had for Laharl, but he would not allow her and told her to live and asked her to raise his son to be the next Overlord. Etna promised to him she's protect Laharl.
Then, not long after, a demon called Maderas stole Etna's memories, and made a deal with her. If she killed the Prince, he would return her memories. She had no choice, and attempted to poison the Prince, but found she could not go through with killing him, so instead used Laharl to win back her memories.
She felt guilty that she had broken her promise and was ready to face the concequences for her traitorous acts, but was surprised when Laharl forgave her (more or less) and made her his right-hand vassal.
Ever since she continued to serve Laharl loyally (well, sort of), helping him become Overlord, defeat the human invasion and followed along to even to Celestia.
As well as lol trapped him in a bottlemail and sent him to Ivoire, and shortly (no way they coulda stuck around for more than a month I'm sure XD) served Zetta as his vassals... sort of.
Personality bits:
Etna's a model demon, being very ambitious, having had her eyes set on the throne for herself. Don't let her child-like looks fool you, she's a tough girl, who's more than happy to play rough when she needs to.
She's clever, coniving, devious and even can be somewhat cruel. Yet, at the drop of a hat, can quickly put on a mask of sweetness. She's a master of manipulation, knowing how to butter up Laharl, or take advantage of Flonne's gullibility.
Despite, she is known to show compassion.
She considers herself to be beautiful, but is rather sensitive concerning her chest.
She can be rather carefree, and even rather lazy, making her vassals, the prinny squad, do any work she doesn't want to do herself.
She's oppertunistic, ready to take advantage of, well, anything.
Etna also has one hell of an imagination, and can get a little carried away by it sometimes.
Etna has a kind of sibling relationship with Laharl. She fights, teases, and plots against him, yet deep down, she really does seem to in fact care about him having sworn to King Krichevskoy that she'd look after and protect him. She really does want him to become a great Overlord like his father was.
She also does enjoy hanging with Flonne, although finds her air-headedness exasperating sometimes. She also loves using Flonne's gullibility
