Wheel of Time books

So, in the last couple of days, I've blown through the first two of Jordan's series and most of the third - I should finish it tonight or tomorrow - and man, I'd forgotten how much I like his world-building. Maybe it's just me, but I sincerely think I like his Westlands better than Martin's Westeros ( Read more... )

It's definitely weird ... Asha'man & the Night's Watch; Melisandre the Aes Sedai, Winter is Coming = the Wheel turns; Khal Drogo becomes a clan chief in the Aiel...

Gah. Stop it, Brain. Just ... stop it.

Does Game of Thrones have an RPG, anyway? I know Wheel of Time does, I've got the book somewhere around here.

I'd love to see Tyrion face off with Egwene in an argument and see if he can knock some sense into her head. Joffrey, of course, would be a pawn of one of the Forsaken. And to see Varys and Littlefinger playing their little games with the Seanchan in their lands would be great...

Or even better, instead of Joffrey being a pawn of one of the Forsaken, let Cersei be one, and the Forsaken is using her to create a new vessel (Joffrey) for the Great Lord of the Dark for when he is released during Tarmon Gai'don.

I really enjoyed the first four or five Wheel of Time books but, much like I did with Martin's books, I just gave up at some point and couldn't finish the next book. I wasn't seeing enough of characters I liked. Too many characters seemed to be part of the story. I just found I couldn't keep track any more.

With Martin's books I think I may have made it all the way through book three before giving up, and I know it was further with Jordan because the books captured my attention longer. Have you read all the WoT books?

It would be interesting to see a WoT/Westeros cross, and it would be cool to see how those very different politics played out. I guess that's why there is always crossover fic. :)

No, I haven't read all the WoT books - I think I stopped right before the last one by Jordan came out. Since I'm playing in a RPG where my character is a cross between Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed 2 and a WoT blademaster, I got the urge to start again...
