Oh ffffff this entire story was like a drop-kick to my gut. Nicely written, I loved it. (And I love the tail of Icarus, too, and it fits so well here oh god.)

Thanks for sharing this, it was wonderful. :)

Am I allowed to disagree a bit? You seem to be a writer with more than just a clue about your references, and I think the story of Icarus is somewhat off for HRE, at least if we're also drawing the lines to Ancient Rome. The speech that Chibitalia gives HRE about the downfall of the Roman Empire seems to suggest that it is greed for land and/or power that makes HRE involve himself in the war that eventually would be his fate. The story of Icarus, on the other hand, has always been one about youthful over-confidence and possible carelessness - not HRE's kind of hubris.

This is not in any way meant to critizies your job at writing here, which is stunning. It just didn't quite affect me like I think it could have, because of the dissonance between the myth as I learned it, and the way you used it here.

Literature is open to interpretation? 8D; ffff okay lol no, I see what you're getting at. Yeah, when I realized that, I had already written everything down. I do think I could have taken it in a different direction and made it more relevant to the myth at that time, but I was already satisfied with the piece. So this thing was basically a product of my own laziness... ? Man, I'm rambling. Now I feel like getting off my butt to rewrite it. XD Thanks for the input, it's very much appreciated.
