Kubo is not wasting time on these chapters. This arc is already moving along at twice the speed of the FKT arc. And nii-sama! And Renji!
Kira's fate is still up in the air - I won't call dead until I see a funeral or the body. But we can call it shounen-death. In the meantime, the chapter opens with talk that I assume will excite Rose/Kira shippers everywhere (talk about the opposite of Kira's last taichou-fukutaichou relationship, eh?) Still, Rose mad is kind of a funny not-terribly-threatening sight to behold to me.
But. But.
The other captains are also setting up for their fights. I'm not too worried about Hitsugaya since he's a Japanese favorite, and he's been working hard on himself since the end of the last war - I imagine he has a few new tricks. I don't care one way or the other about Soifon, honestly. Komamura... I wonder if Komamura will make it out of that battle? I think he might be one of the ones who goes down, especially because of his relationship to the soutaichou.
AND RENJI-AND NII-SAMA, FIGHTING IN TANDEM.
I will ignore the immense feeling of dread this gives me, Outside of Bleach movies and filler episodes (in other words, within canon_) it's exceedingly difficult if not impossible to think of a time they've fought side by side. So there's something significant about this, plus it looks like they're paired up with that deadly Quincy-thing that looks like Yo-Landi from Die Antwoord (and the Quincy equivalent of Yammy, apparently). I really, really hope this battle goes okay for both of them. And I will go on pretending that it will, though I suspect in one way or another it might not.
Ugggghhhh Kubo.
I'll learn the Quincies names as they become more important to the arc; I'm not disregarding them but, much like the Espada, it took a while and a few individual fights to let the names settle in my head. We'll see what happens. Ichigo's not going to be happy when he comes back, is he?
