Yep. A Quincy having something that looks like a Zanpakuto is interesting and I'm sure Kubo will be exploring that in the next chapter unless he decides to be nice and skip back to Hueco Mundo. I can't help but wonder if it's a stolen Zanpakuto or something from a thousand years back that only Yama-jii know about.
I'm hoping that bankai-stealing won't be an issue here as well, though I can't tell if another random Quincy (possibly the blonde guy) might steal it during a critical point in the battle to come.
You might be right about his bankai abilities. Seems like a compressed form of his reiatsu and Shikai powers, much like Ichigo's is. Can't help but be really interested to know what's gonna happen next week.
We'll probably skip into the TBTP II arc at this rate. Which would be amazing, but I need to know what's happening elsewhere first! I smell backstory in the air, though I'm not sure if we'll get it all yet.

The appearance of Yama-jii's bankai is no surprise, although I didn't expect the kind that seems to be similar to Ichigo's - internal instead of monstrous flames of mayhem. But that makes it more interesting.
While the last few chapters helped to make Yamamoto more accessible to me, I'm still convinced he is going to die; and rather sooner than later. I smell TBTP on the horizon first though.
Finally got to see and analyze the latest chapter. Like you, I got an even stronger feeling now that this is Yama-Jii's end. We're going to get to see him going all out but it will definitely end up causing some damage. I had hoped we would get a really small glimpse of Hueco Mundo but no such thing :/ even so, Yama-Jii's bankai was everything I was hoping it would be!
The possibility of it being stolen is...well, I watched the Zanpakuto arc (anime) and he was able to control his Zanpakuto better than the rest of the Gotei 13 captains and vice-captains (obviously). I don't know if the anime-only arcs have any connection to the manga whatsoever but I was kind of really hoping Yama-Jii would be more capable of not getting his bankai stolen compared to the rest of SS shinigami. I'm really hoping here!
I agree with you on the mysterious unnamed Quincy. I completely disregarded him! Definitely keeping an eye out!
