Hi! It's been a while since I've posted anything. I have GOT to say Zero Squad was a definite let-down if only based on looks. Maybe their power will be able to erase their first impression imprinted on me from my memory but I doubt it. I thought they'd be more...cool-looking?? The Kon bit was just completely out of place and totally unnecessary. He did nothing, brought no news, gave Ichigo no insight on the situation wherever he came from, totally unnecessary, like I said.
What happens now?
I don't know but I'm definitely a bit skeptical. The direction this manga is about to take can either make it or break it :/ Kubo...what are you thinking!?
That thing with Kon...I'm wondering if Shounen Jump just went "fit Kon in there somewhere, we need some comic relief after that battle" on Kubo. Where did he even come from?
The more detailed explanation about the bankai was nice, I'm curious about how it'll play out.
Zero Squad is an interesting move on Kubo's part, I think. You wouldn't have expected them to look like that, I think nobody did. The element of surprise was on his side here which has at least gained my interest back a bit. Before this chapter, I would have expected a bunch of intimidating looking, stern, and immensely powerful fighters. Reminds me of when I didn't take Shinji seriously upon seeing him for the first time, for example. Or Wonderweiss.
But Kubo definitely needs to tread carefully with Zero Squad, or the whole arc might go to hell.

I just sent out my Wild Horses novel submission, so I'm feeling both nervous and relieved.
So... bankai. I still wonder if Byakuya's bankai can be restored somehow, using Ichigo's sanpakutou as a back-up drive. Also, I figure his kido and shunpo will recover even if (heavens forbid) Senbonzakura doesn't. It would be REALLY INTERESTING to see a character recover from a condition that we would normally call a "disability" and still be kickass. It makes me think of people I know in life who are "disabled" and you'd never know... Gawd, I luv the guy. He's just so awesome. Even without a pretty shikai.
I'm incredibly underwhelmed by the Zero Squad. The Zero must go for "Zero cool", the designs are boring as hell. I'm not even interested in them anymore
