It is the deeply seated rage that I see in your comment that gets me so angry about the fandom these days. The casting is something to be miserable about, and it's not that I'm not angry about it. I do wish it was different, but I'm trying my darndest to accept the film for what it is and hope for it to be actually good.

There's no real "right" stance in this thing. This is just how I feel, and I don't want to have rants thrown all over me just for having an opinion. So please think more wisely before posting, okay...? This got me fairly upset, and I really hate resembling my icon.

even since the start of the show it's had it's share of fandom wank, even over silly things like shipping.

I know your pain though. But even if I let go of my rage some time ago, and though I'm open to the movie/seeing it, I'm also open talking about the terrible truth of what has happened, otherwise there wouldn't be this much rage.

I know it's not comfortable to talk about. But well, Friends of mine who worked on the series are getting hired to promote the movie. They spending sleepless nights tossing and turning because they can't in good consciousness let it go either. XD

As long as the story/source is left intact, I see there is good intention still remaining, and I see no real harm in keeping what has happened open to witness.
