I don't like to be scared. I hate horror movies, roller coasters and haunted houses. Every Halloween, I scope out some haunted place and finagle a tour to scare the living daylights out of myself.

When I stared up at the size and scope of the prison around me, poked into its dank cells with dark corners, rotted toilets and rusted bars, and caught the heavy stench of time served, remembered the real supernatural spooks and spirits that might have been left behind by the violent criminals who once lived behind these walls, the people in costumes trailing me seemed a lot less scary.
