hm.... 30-40 pages in one year? NO PROBS. That's actually only 15 pages written, and then double space it - BAM! 30! It's like... MAGIC! ;) Although Never underestimate the anxiety and procreation that comes with an Imminent Scary Deadline(tm). (I wrote 30 pages in the 2 weeks before my masters thesis was due)

the evolution of women through humanties, eh? massive subject. What is this thesis for, exactly? In order to graduate, or for a specific class? My advice to you is to pick women who have some sort of connection to each other, so you can follow a through-line of bucking the system or commenting on social issues - you can get femme mavericks all the way back to the medieval period. OR pick a time period/decade and look at all the different opinions of femininity (cult of domesticity v. suffragettes) etc. The most important thing is to pick a sustainable argument first.

Wifie digs Edith Wharton. And Julia Kristeva. And Elaine Scarry.

Keep me updated, yeah? XD

i knew you would be an immense help! my thesis is for my major and is required to receive my BA. its sort of incentive to focus our studies, and prove we've gained something useful from classes. (that so far seem pretty monotonous!) i know a year is no biggie, at this point i just want to weigh all my options and start looking for something specific in my class load. i liked the idea of weaving a little connection to early women artists, author and the like to more current pioneers. the common thread would be how they were/are limited by the rigidity of a male dominated society, but still able to produce influential work ( ... )

oooo... George Eliot too. I wonder who else took male pens names in order to be taken seriously. now *that* could be a cool thesis. I know there was a girl gold miner during the California Gold Rush who did the same thing. FUN!

(in other news, I sent you a wee christmas card to your SB address, since I don't have your college one. You got it, right?) ;D
