Ok, this is off an anti Scientology web site, but how can people even believe any of this? I am astonished that there are people that really, whole-heartedly believe in this. Actually, maybe I'm not. ... that the Bible's writers were, perhaps, the first sci-fi writers, knowing as we do that L. Ron Hubbard was himself a science fiction hack who wrote plenty of dross before Dianetics, and afterward.

Hey, remember something... the world's religions are basically one code of ethics strapped to different mythologies. It's up to all of us which we decide to believe, as the codes of ethics are, for the most part, the same. Or, of course, we can decide to NOT believe.

It's all good. I definitely think something or someone's out there... but as for intergalactic rulers, and Federations, and walking on water, and "Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho"...

it's all stories. Maybe I should create a religion.

I think we can all start our own religions.

I must think of what to call mine and who and what my followers should do.

well, why are you creating it? Money? Revenge? Laughs? Think of one word you can use to decribe your motive, and add -logy to it.

Being in LA, I can tell you that Scientology is the textbook definition of a cult. They promise all of these material, practical things at first (which don't doubt they can do), but then you get into the alien ghosts that haunt the earth.

Well, that's what you get when your religious founder is a so-so sci-fi author that died on his yacht in the Pacific avoiding the IRS.

Why do you have to be in LA to tell that scientology is a cult? I think we figured that out right here at our desks...regardless of locale.
