Sooo... FUCK YOU, JJ ABRAMS!!!

There were a couple of nice scenes in the movie, I thought the engine room scene was quite cleverly done (at least until Spock started yelling Khaaaan) and the visuals of future London and San Francisco were stunning. And Uhura and Sulu were awesome, but I put that down to Zoe Saldana and John Cho being awesome.

But the movie itself sucked. I didn't think it possible to have bigger plot holes than in the first reboot movie, but this time you could have parked half the alpha quadrant in there. The characterizations, particularly for Kirk made no sense and Khan was an almost entirely one-dimensional villain. Cumberbatch was great in the scene brig but after that he definitely went overboard. There were tons of references to the "original" shows and movies, but they didn't feel like shout outs to the Trek fandom but more like somebody had taken all the bits of Star Trek that had drifted into mainstream or he'd been told about and thrown them at the wall to see what stuck. I guess Abrams was serious when he said that he didn't really like Trek as a kid and didn't get it. Also, since when do the Klingons look like the fucking Uruk'hai.

If there is a third movie, I definitely am going to heed fandom's opinion and save my time and money if the reviews aren't good.

PS: Lens-flares are fucking annoying in 2D. In 3D they make me want to choke somebody.
