It's sort of weird to be semi-employed (totally in charge of my own schedule, working from home) with the promise of a proper, well-paying job in a year because I feel like I have a lot of time to pursue my own projects, which I've never been properly able to do for the last... 12 years, at least

Cool project. I have forbidden myself from buying any new cookbooks until I've cooked a fair bit from any of the cookbooks that I already own. But that just means I haven't bought a new cookbook in several years. Instead, I just keep borrowing cookbooks from the library or finding recipes online. So many things to try cooking! You tea eggs look pretty cool. I want to try making those some time.
