I know several of the people on my friends list are planning to move, or have already moved their journals over to Dreamwidth. I'm not going to put down a list of links giving more information on DW, because there are plenty of them out there that have already been done, better than I could have done them. On Announcements Of Our DW Move Status
I know that I haven't made my "Here I am at DW" announcement yet because I haven't figured out how I'm going to move/not move/cross-post/use my DW account!
Also, some people may be holding off until open beta when a) people can get an account without having to wait for an invite and b) the basic functionality is all there. (I've seen a) some people 'complain' about not being able to get an account and b) a few people wander in and be disappointed about some aspect of DW and be not so keen on using DW as a result, not realising that DW is still in closed beta.)
Then, as you said, there's the people that really aren't thinking of the logistics! *g*
