The University of Cincinnati has finally begun classes for the new term; a good full month or two behind virtually everyone else. While other colleges pretty much start at the generally agreed upon time, UC likes to make a fashionably late entrance into the academic year. That is fucking horrible.

Funnily enough, The Communist Manifesto actually has quite a lot to do with Literary Theory. Marxism inspires a few schools of criticism, most notably the school written upon by Stanley Fish; it's all about questioning the origins of the supposed truths that we find in literature.

Still sounds fucking horrible, though.

We'll see how it goes. Right now we're on Hegel, and that's something that is soundly used for literary criticism. That we're also reading about how his theories apply to American imperialism rather than literature though... we'll just see how it goes.
