"Oh, I'm sure I'll figure it out," Annie assured her, taking in the scenery from the window because hello, 1915! She wasn't actually sure she'd figure it out, but she was pretty sure she could fake it. "...Dog Monday? Actual dog?"

"Actual dog," Rilla assured her. "And not a talking one or anything. He's my brother Jem's dog and came with him to say goodbye when he went off to war. He's waiting at the station for him to come back. He meets every train."

And that wasn't depressing at all!
