Maybe if he'd had this realization before our acquisitions budget got cut back to what it was in 2004...

Update: I went to his open coffee hour and laid out some of my department's laundry list (not all of it, that would've taken hours and turned into a rant). I advocated for a larger campus conversation around the issue and some of the specific measures our department thinks would help. Who knows what will come of it but at least I got to say my bit.
