LJ, Dreamwidth, etc

You may have noticed that this journal has crossposted to LJ from Dreamwidth for awhile. I set that up a few years ago because LJ's stability and changes of ownership had me concerned about the platform's viability, and I was still posting/reading often enough that I wanted a backup ( Read more... )

Any specific developments making you thinking about jettisoning LJ (speaking as another long-time LJ user)?

I have the same question. I'm a permanent LJ user and love it. I use Dreamwidth as a backup, i.e., I archive there every once in a while.

LJ's servers are now located in Russia. They've been owned by a Russian company for years but until this month the hosting servers were still in the U.S.

You may also notice that https connections to LJ are no longer available.
