Summary: When Roni's friend Leslie gets arrested for a murder he insists he didn't commit, she decides to investigate.
A/N: Grahh...I completely forgot about this. I'm on an uploading spree today, aren't I? Each chapter is about 500 words, since there's only so much space in the paper reserved for a piece. ^^;; The next few chapters will go up, too.
“Remember our treehouse?”
“Of course! How could I forget? It’s been our secret hideout, since, like, forever!”
Leslie, Cristoff and I were sitting at Starbucks, reminiscing over coffee. It was the summer of our last year of high school. I smiled. I relished the time they spent together. We were inseparable ever since elementary school, but now we’re all going separate ways.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a waitress give them a heated glare. Noticing the time - “Oh no, we’ve been here for two hours!” - I took one last sip out of the Styrofoam cup and threw it in the garbage. My friends did the same, and we walked outside.
“So what do you want to do now?” asked Leslie.
“I don’t know, wh--”
Suddenly, a police car sped up and screeched to a halt beside them. A detective exited the vehicle, pulling out a pair of handcuffs.
“Leslie Davidson, you are under arrest for the murder of Doug Smith.”
