Nearest book:
Catspaw by Joan D. Vinge

"What's the most fun you ever had?"

I glanced at him. Three more stones hit the water and sank, while I searched my mind for an answer that would mean something to him.

Well, that was nicely cryptic. The book could really be about anything from that passage. F'r instance:

1) "What's the most fun you ever had?"

I glanced at him. Three more stones hit the water and sank, while I searched my mind for an answer that would mean something to him.

"Well, Roderick, I suppose it would be that time I flashed Queen Victoria. There's nothing quite as invigorating as being pursued by the England guard with your trousers around your ankles...and escaping! Well, once I got bored, at any rate.

2) "What's the most fun you ever had?"

I glanced at him. Three more stones hit the water and sank, while I searched my mind for an answer that would mean something to him.

"It...was right after the last time the world almost ended. Mel was sprawled out on the floor, Fek was desperately trying to hide the fact that he couldn't stop shaking, and Sunna just leaned there, munching on those stupid cookies. Then she grinned at me, and said 'I told you so.'

He stared at me, waiting for the punchline.

"And?"

"And we all stared laughing. Because...it was so very normal. Nothing had changed. We were still there, the cookies were still there, and Sunna's magical ability to make it all about her was completely intact. Five seconds earlier I was ready to die, and then the world just kept going. And really, it should have had the decency to let us catch our breath before everything became the same again.

He waited another beat, and when I didn't elaborate he smiled in that way that people do when it's just easier to grin than to ask for another clarification

But that was okay too. He'd learn soon enough.

3) "What's the most fun you ever had?"

I glanced at him. Three more stones hit the water and sank, while I searched my mind for an answer that would mean something to him.

"You know what, it doesn't matter."
"It doesn't?"
"Nope. You're an MPREG, I'm an MPREG. Let's skip this filler and get right to the pregnant man quickie."

He tossed another stone into the lake. It was swallowed up with an unceremonious gloop.

"You've convinced me. Come here, you fetus bearing tripod, you!"

The point here is that you should read Catspaw. But don't read Dreamfall. Oh, God help you if you read Dreamfall!

But at any rate ;)
