Yes, it's becoming increasingly evident that my visage is capable of transmitting thoughts, images and ideas that I am NOT feeling to the mind of another. I know, I know, it was shocking to me too. But really, it's the only possible explanation for the reactions at the blood bank yesterday. Because despite the fact that I feel completely at ease with giving blood (hellooo, free bagels on Saturdays!) apparently my countenance decided to convey the fact that WE WERE ALL GOING TO DIE AND HAVE OUR SOULS DEVOURED BY HEMOGOBLINS DURING THIS TORRENTIAL SPILLING OF BLOOD.
Seriously, this was my conversation with the nurses.
NURSE
*(Destined to Be Deceived By The FACE?!?!)*
Hello, dear, how are you doing?
LYNNSEY
*(My Mother Taught Me To Be A Polite Blood Reservoir)*
I'm doing well. And yourself?
*Face To Provoke Following Reaction*: Don't KILL me! I have televison addictions to feed!
NURSE
*(What would Florence Nightengale Do?)*
Don't worry, honey. This will all be over soon. How are you doing?
LYNNSEY
*(Not so much a honey as a mustard)*
Uh...I'm doing well. And yourself. No worries at all.
*Face To Provoke Following Reaction*: Oh, I have worries. I have more worries than a lether fetishist at a PETA conference with a Steel Boot theme. DO NOT DRAIN ALL OF MY BLOOD! I NEED SOMETHING TO DILUTE MY COFFEESTREAM!
NURSE
*(Aha, a newbie.)*
Oh sweetheart, we're so proud of you for coming out here. Have you ever given blood before?
LYNNSEY
*(WT is up with her F? Why hasn't she made with the pokey so I can make with the yogurt and bagels?)*
Uhm, yeah. Loads of times. Don't worry about me. Seriously, you can start anytime you're ready.
*Face To Provoke Following Reaction*: WAAAAAAAAAAH!
NURSE
*This Calls For BATMAN Reinforcements*
Excuse me, other person, can you help me out here?
Other Nurse
Hi pumpkin, are you feeling okay?
Lynnsey
*nods*
*Face*: *shakes head*
Other Nurse
Okay, that's good to hear. So...how are you feeling?
That seriously went on for five minutes ;) I think they were running out of endearments. Two more questions and I might have been called 'bacon bits'.
But in the end they got my blood, I got their bagels, and later my face seemed to re-sync up with my emotions by making appropriately pissed off expressions when discussing the cancellation of Deadwood.
At any rate, I should sign off before my face begins to show an interest in
'The Hoff'
*shudders*
*face also shudders*
In the meantime, have a completely unrelated quiz!
