Bernard-Henri Levy worships Roman Polanski.

I am only thankful there are intelligent comments amidst the hero-worship of a rapist.

I do not care if Roman Polanski is the greatest film-maker alive. He drugged, anally and vaginally raped a 13-yr-old child, then fled the country. He does not deserve critical acclaim or hero-worship. A little repentance

I have said so many times here that we would have defended him in the same way had he been, not Polanski, but just an individual "of no importance to the community". I have repeated, over and over, that, far from protecting him, his celebrity, talent, and genius weigh him down as the source of this bundle of suspicions and crimes that would not exist for anyone else.

I don't understand. I mean it, I really don't see why people would defend a rapist. Listening to people defend Polanski as a person is one of the most confusing things I have dealt with recently. So he's a good director - fine. But he RAPED a CHILD. Every time it gets discussed I just want to run away with my hands over my ears and pretend people are better than they are.

I used to be a huge fan of the actor Dylan McDermott, but then he said if he was a real lawyer instead of just playing one on The Practice, he'd be Polanski's lawyer and get him off. Um. WTF????

I think McDermott sees it as nothing because his own mother was 14 when she had him, but there's a difference between a 14 year old and a 17 year old (I think that's the age his father was at the time) consentually, and a middle aged man raping a child.
