The Last Princess

Jul 03, 2009 16:18

I'm probably decades behind everyone else on watching this.

4:30 - First impression after five minutes... I already love Jun's character. And I was sorta confused, because the film quality is so... 1960s. Maybe it's my copy? I donno.

10:38 - Jun...stop moving your jaw like that. You look like a mad man.

17:43 - I am so confused. I can't tell who's on what side and who's fighting who and WHAT on earth is she princess of?

19:37 - So much weird facial hair.

20:53 - That's being disguised as a boy? Ancient Japan you fail.

32:58 - I love the Japanese for actually addressing the Shudo relationships that samerai practiced. Yay for Gay! SN: It's interesting to me how Shudo was lauded as masculine and honerable and yet sex with women was blamed for feminizing men. Looking at it in that respect, it actually demeaned sex and love between men and women. Wasn't it one more way to keep women powerless? God, I love history.

35:06 - Jun being lecherous is kind of hilarious. Daisuke, I can believe.

37:51 - I should study more Japanese history. I find it fascinating how their fuedal states and warrior class functions (apparently) much like middle age Europe. Sorta says something about cultural evolution.

45:22 - This movie is super bloody. I also love that the Princess is not helpless. Did I mention the bloody?

48:48 - I am continually surprised. Nothing is happening like I would expect.

55:24 - I kinda love the Princess waaaay more than Jun's character.

1:11:17 - GUN?! WHAT YEAR IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE?!

1:12:08 - WTH?!

1:21:21 - YAY JUN! GO JUN!

1:23:00 - Daisuke, you are a FREAK.

1:24:32 - How is that bird even ALIVE still?

1:27:10 - I don't have a CLUE what's going on. Lead? Huh?!

1:33:10 - Protect the Princess? With WHAT?! She's gonna have better luck protecting HIM.

1:34:39 - SEE!

1:42:33 - YAY FOR IMPOSSIBLE HEROICS!

1:50:02 - Takezo WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

1:51:40 - But...but... they promised!

Credits - WTH? Uh... this is so not... at all in theme with the movie.

Overall impression: Probably could have lived without watching it. Damn Japanese with mediocre endings.

Also? I'm afraid I may have gotten sunburnt just doing errands today.
