Mel looked blankly down at the cake in the middle of the break room table. She took a step to the side, examining the confection from another angle. Danny reached out to dip his finger into the rich chocolate frosting and she slapped it away.

He gave her a wounded look.

She ignored it and looked to Paul, "You're sure?"

"I saw her carry it in."

Mel frowned, perplexed. "Rebecca bakes? Our Rebecca?"

"Since when is she 'our' Rebecca?" Danny wondered, trying again to sneak a taste of the frosting. Mel batted him away again. "Would you stop that?"

"Could be store bought," Paul offered.

"That's not store bought," Danny shook his head. "It's too rich. And yummy looking. And why aren't we eating it?"

"We aren’t eating it because we don’t know who its for."  Mel frowned in thought.  "Plus, it could be bait for our unsub."

"It's a cake," Danny pointed out.  "I don’t think even Locke is so into her job that she would accidentally poison her co-workers just to catch the killer."

Mel and Paul turned to look at him with raised eyebrows.

Danny looked down at the icing on his finger.  "...Good point."

"What is?" Rebecca asked from the doorway, looking at the three of them inquisitively.

Danny guiltily hid his hand behind his back.

"Nothing," Mel shook her head, giving her a friendly smile. "We were just admiring the cake."

"Oh?" She stepped further into the room, arching a brow.

Paul gave her a innocent smile, "You made it?"

An embarassed look flickered over Rebecca's face.  "Um...no?"

"You did make it!" Mel said in astonishment.  "Is this one of those deep dark secrets that we aren't supposed to know about?"

Rebecca was actively blushing, which she tried to ignore. "I...bake when I get stressed."

"So," Danny said hopefully.  "Its not poisoned?"

"Why would it be poisoned?" she watched him pop a finger full of frosting in his mouth and quickly looked away. "Never mind, I don't think I want to know."

Mel gave her an amused smile. "You bake when you get stressed? How...normal."

Rebecca hesitantly glanced at the cake, and back at them, "So...do you guys want some?"

Danny was already busily cutting into it, chocolate icing getting smeared across his knuckles as he sliced.  "Yep."

Mel stifled a laugh at the look on Rebecca's face when Danny presented a huge piece of cake to her.

"What's this?" Rebecca asked in confusion.

"You baked it, Locke," Danny told her.  "I figured you would know."

She smiled faintly, accepting the plate. "Thanks."

Paul smirked, handing her a fork. "I think maybe he's not convinced you didn't poison it."

Her brow furrowed and she gave Danny a bemused look, toying with her fork. "I...don't get it."

Mel snickered.  "Well, we were a little surprised to find out that you baked."

"We thought it might be a trap," Danny explained, raising a forkful of cake to his lips.  "Or bait, or something."

"Bait?"  Rebecca looked somewhere between amused and confused.

Danny just shrugged, his mouth full.

"Well," said Mel.  "We could have a new unsub who leaves baked goods at the scene. Or only hits bakeries."  She nodded at Paul as he handed her a slice.  "You could be practicing."

"Practicing poisoning?" She repeated dubiously.

"Or baiting," Danny supplied between bites.

Mel grinned, "Of course, if you were trying to bait someone with pastry, Danny's the only one who'd get nailed."

He leaned back against the counter with a cocky smile, "If Rebecca's doing the nailing, I don't think I'd mind."

Rebecca choked on her cake.
