Twilight

Yes. Okay.

My roommate made me read the book this weekend and then took me to see the movie. Thus... my thoughts.

1) literarylemming and I are/have written a vampire!Nino fic. This is pertinent because Twilight has vampires. In case you've been living under a rock for the last three months and have heard nothing about the book. Personally? I prefer our fic.

2) The ( Read more... )

6.)The reason it looks like Washington is because it was filmed in Washington (and Oregon). Don't go giving credit where it isn't due.

And actually, there are a lot of Asians around here. Are you serious? And if there were a lot of African- and Asian-Americans in the movie, it is because they were in the book. You said "IN SMALL WESTERN WASHINGTON HICK TOWNS" (what is with the huge spaces, btw?) so maybe you're right. But I see a hell of a lot of AAs around here.

7.) Are you serious? Maybe the songs are better in the context of the movie (apparently the author listened to Linkin Park & Muse while writing), but they are totally not my style. I didn't think they were your style either, but I guess I don't know.

The whole thing reminds me of a blown-up version of the overly dramatic crap I used to like in high school. I'm kind of curious against my better judgment, should I listen to a pirated copy of the audiobook or watch a pirated copy of the movie first?

6) It was filmed mostly in Oregon, actually. And I was more or less applauding them for showcasing the fact that we live in a beautiful place and not that it's rain-drenched and drab, like most of the world thinks.

Yes, there are a lot of Asian's in washington. And in bellingham. But how many asians and african-americans have YOU found in Everson? Deming? Sumas? That's the size city that Forks is. It's like 17 times smaller than Bellingham.

7) I'm very eclectic in my music taste. I deleted about 6 of the 16 songs. But there is an utterly beautiful rendition of Clair de Lune that I had to have. As well as the original composition Edward supposedly wrote for Bella. Plus Robert Pattinson (the lead) sings 2 songs himself on the soundtrack, and they're kinda cool ( ... )

So, I've listened to the first half of the audiobook and now I've seen a very very bad pirated version of the movie online (I was bored this evening. I probably should have watched Heroes instead. Oh well). Time for my thoughts ( ... )

Another problem, the narrator of the audiobooks kind of does a weird thing, emphasizing the second syllable of some of the names: Bella and Rosalie. It's odd.
