OK, my new PC has arrived, is set up and I have been playing Age of Conan for a few days. I thought I would take this chance to jot down a few thoughts on what the game is like

My WoW experience was very different. My very first character was a warlock. I added a priest later but levelled as shadow and a druid which levelled as feral.
I have healed a lot in WoW but only once I hit the cap and when I had a dps class to grind for me and later swapped to shadow raiding.
The class decision really came down to not wanting to ahve to use the directional attack stuff. Its an interesting and new way of doing things but I just dont have the keyboard control to do it. There are ranged dps classes but the Ranger didnt appeal and the Necromancer and Demonologist are both considered gimped, the necro in particular.
The rest of us have mostly dropped into different classes except Neil who is playing the Bear Shaman.
I've been enjoying it myself too, though I've not had opportunity to play quite as much as I would like yet. (Damned essays ;-) ) Bit shaky on my computer, though I'm intending to grab some extra ram and see how that helps out.
