I don't understand this. I haven't seen anybody claim that having an interest about politics indicates a more educated or intelligent person. However, an opinion that is totally uninformed, or an inability to admit that politics affects everyone every day of their lives should be remedied - we can't luve in absolute ignorance, because it's 'cool'.

Voting is, technically, compulsory - what you're talking about is people who waste the vote and don't allow it to be counted.

Yhe the better educated person thingo basically stemmed from another person's views. But a lot of political views are uniformed, and many that have those uniformed views, or views that have only seen one limited detail, do vote properly. Thus i would lean to agreeing that non-compulsory voting is a better system, especially when including the fact that there are a great deal of people that make no mark on the ballot, and put in the box. This great number of informal votes pushes towards a non-compulsory system more, yet i believe in the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and what we have is stable at the moment, so i don't see a change as practical at this point in time.
