sleep

been sleeping like shit for the past week. possible reasons:

- accidentally keep eating something i shouldn't (psyllium seeds maybe??)

- super stressed because the sisters-in-law who only ever cause problems have been home. also the parents have been awful as usual.

- stressed from schoolwork / class etc

i have a presentation in japanese class today ( Read more... )

Oh, man, I sympathise on the sleep thing. It's always taken me ages - at least an hour, often two - to get to sleep. But a couple of years ago I essentially solved my sleep problems, by putting on audiobooks that I know well and love (for me it's Pratchett), very very softly, so they're aaalmost out of focus for my hearing. They're interesting enough to keep me from getting up and finding something else to do but not interesting enough to keep me awake because I *know* what happens next. And because they're so quiet, they don't wake hubby, and I have to be still and calm to hear them. I do have to put them on a timer though, or they wake me up at the border of the next sleep cycle. A few years of that has obviously trained me better in how to fall asleep, because now I only put them on when I realise I'm having trouble--most of the time now, I fall asleep fine without. Helps me get back to sleep in the middle of the night, too ( ... )

The presentation went really badly, it was partially the lack of sleep and partially because mom was skipping work AND one of the sisters were home (they're both about as loud as each other). It's online class. So, even despite me telling them twice before class, and then having to actually leave the computer to go tell the sister again in the middle of class (she also has online classes so theoretically knows how it is!), there was STILL noise going on throughout the whole class time, including during my presentation.

And, it's already hard enough to hear what's going on when half the class members have bad microphones. SIGH. Now that sister has gone home (she was here for what, 2-3 weeks??) so it'll be a little quieter, anyway....

:( Sorry to hear. I very much value my peace and quiet; drives me nuts when people don't use their inside voices.

It's not even just that they're loud, it's also that they're crazy and flip out at nothing.. like a few hours ago, mom is flipping out because my wife's magazine got wet, my wife doesn't give a shit and just says to toss it, mom refuses to, so i go to toss it. then dad flips out, as in gets really angry for no reason without warning, thinking that i'm going to toss it in the carton recycle instead of the magazine recycle (when i wasn't even!).
