Vandalized and Robbed

Well, I just found my Workshop had been torn apart and stuff in my shed scuffled. All the electrical cords had been removed from the walls, ceiling, lights and computer equipment as well as the electrical elements, fuses and cables taken from the shop's main electrical box. The shop's walls have been torn out and my files and artworks have been ( Read more... )

Oh man, that really stinks. Wait, all they took were electrical cords? Not the computer stuff itself? That's really weird. What's up with that, some neighbor needed electrical cords for his christmas decorations and didn't feel like going to Walmart to buy them? 0_o

Would a dog really help? Dogs can be bought off so easy, no matter the breed (unless you get some really expensive specially trained Guard Dog from a place that specifically trains Guard Dogs, and i know you can't afford that). Throw 'em some food, give 'em some lovin' and they'll be happily nuzzling up to any criminal.

I pray that no one else disturbs your house at all, dog or no dog. *hug*

Pawn shops won't buy computers anymore. But the price of copper being so high and easy to sell to any recycling shop...

This has been a common occurance in Tucson. I have not been the only one which only copper has been removed. Copper is really high in trade prices and it is accessable to everyone because copper is in all our electrical appliances and main electric circuit boxes ( ... )

Put "Un-" before that and it's more fitting a description!

This really put me on the offensive, here. You never think it would happen to you, and then, "BLAM!", you get nailed good and hard!

I could be really pissy and scream at God, "IT'S NOT FAIR!" and blame Him like so many others do. But the truth of the matter is ... life's never was and never will be fair. And blaming my Lord won't solve my problems, either. So, I put it in a perspective that there are things I can do to change this and there are things that only God can do to change them. Yes, the serenity prayer does work. I just put more trust in Him and live my life the best I can! =)

Oh man, sorry to hear that! I thought it was bad when my car got broken into but I can't imagine how I'd feel if someone were to break into my house.

You might be able to install a relatively inexpensive alarm system and find or make some stickers that you can put around some windows and your shop that says "Monitored by Brinks" or "ADT" or something like that. That might make someone think twice about breaking in.

Remember a dog costs money for food, vet bills etc. A non-monitored alarm system might be cheaper unless you *want* a dog for companionship as well as protection.

I know about dogs costing money and medical expenses for animals is higher than human medical bills! But, your right in the latter. That is one of the reasons I want a dog because of the companionship, as well. I'm very lonely, at times and some companionship ... even if it's a cold, wet nose is better than none. I'm more of a cat person, myself. I love cats and would love to have one, but a dog is better as a deterrent from a burglary or theft than a cat would.

I live alone too so I know exactly how you feel about experiencing loneliness at times. That's why I have my dog--for companionship. However, he would be no deterrent to a burglar since all he'd do would be to maybe wag his tail and lick them :P
