Last time on ~It’s not gay if it’s on the Mississipppi~: Nicky is a controlling jerk, and Silver is waffling about whether he’s hot or hot. Same old so far. UGLY laughter at a well-played Aleksandra meme, smooth and sexy glottal stops, and what is potentially tonguing thru a ribcage. Truly an Lovecraftian bit of literature right there.
(Also, I got to wonder if Mikhail wasn't written in by a het-sabotaging editor who wanted to remind readers that non-abusive non-het relationships can exist and offset True Feminist Icon/Russian Dickweed romance?)

This comment was somehow put into my spam folder and I only just now noticed!!!! The travesty!!! You're just too suspicious a Russian mailorder bride, I suppose :(

I really wonder what is going in with Mikhail, yeah. I mean, he checks many of the standard "super loyal BFF" tropes (childhood friends, life debt, tragic backstory of his own and no romantic interest in the main girl), but those descriptions!!! Again, in two books we never learn Valya's haircolour, but Mikhail constantly gets the whole "RED LIKE THE SETTING SUN ON THE SNOWY MOUNTAIN CAPS OF THEIR HOMELAAAAND" treatment, and "people say I'm ugly, only Nicholas disagrees ardently" and like--- that's just.... language that's reserved for the love interest.....

The only possibility I see is that there was the tentative idea to spin him and/or Valya off as romantic leads in further installations that never happened..? But as is, we just have these two bi icons being the only characters in this mess I don't want to kick overboard into the depths of the Ol' muddy Mississippi.
