"Damn it." The words nearly made it out of his mouth before he bit them down. But it didn't stop his fists from clenching, or his breath from becoming ragged, both from his short sprint and from sheer frustration. He grit his teeth.

That boy had vanished. Run. And he had taken it upon himself to see why, to drag him back if needed be.

Instead he was only left standing half-hidden in some alley, watching as the boy ran off into the too-bright sunlight. It hurt his eyes.

"He runs fast, doesn't he?"

The sudden voice startled him; he turned on his heel sharply, eyes scanning. The sudden darkness made him blink. He had been staring out into the light before, and now looking into the dark alley he felt half-blind. Eventually he made out the figure of a person--a girl, hidden by the shadows, standing a few meters away.

'Fujisaki-san,' his mind automatically registered, although he didn't react in any way.

"He's like that sometimes, when something's wrong with him and he needs to cope with it by himself. Sometimes he'd just close up and disappear, and it'd feel so wrong because it's just...not right when he's not there." She sighed helplessly, lips curving. "He'll figure it out, though. He'll fix whatever's wrong with him, or get someone to do it for him, or find a way to cope. And then he'll always come back. He's like that, too.

"Usually I'd chase after him anyway, make sure he's all right wherever he ends up in, but I don't think I can anymore." There was something almost...breakable about her smile, like a thin sheet of glass in his hands, but her were light.

'Why are you telling me this?' something inside him wanted to ask. He forced the question down, but some of it probably leaked into his expression, because her smile became stronger, her eyes more sad. Her left foot stepped back and she half-turned, making as though to leave.

"You can, though. Take care of him for me, please?"

Her footsteps were soft as she disappeared.

'Strange,' he thought, feeling oddly bothered.
