I spoke to my mother, and after twenty minutes of discussion she had agreed to give up alcohol for a year. I've been with her the past few days watching her out of the corner of my eye; she does not exhibit the tendencies of an alcoholic at all. It is a relief to see that it was just my past worries come to colour the present. Still, she did agree

so it's not a drinking problem, it's a cleaning problem. well, at least it's not bins of ice cream everywhere.
