It would be annoying to be in Anuk Su Namun's position... painted everywhere so that the slightest touch would smudge and reveal that someone other than the king had entered his territory. What if she needed to sit, or slap away a bug, or scratch?

... but then... being slowly and delicately painted daily with soft bristles by a slew of scantily-clad handmaidens... who would know how to cover their tracks with more paint...

Exactly to all points. Actually, I thought that was the first Gaping Plothole in those two films. A.S.N. could just have just rubbed at her arm and complained about a vraeus bite, or something. (Tee hee!) Then the whole thing would have blown over.

But then we never would have seen Rachel Weisz in her deuling Nefertiri debut. That would have been a shame.

He's an amazing writer. I'm glad that he has both the extremes and middle road in his essays. That's a rare talent.
