That's cool. I will be in Manchester a little too late tho :(

Is it just me or is the term "showcase" incredibly patronising? It's got that music industry connotation of the only reason you want to play a gig is to get signed or something. Especially in that context, where it sounds like they're making special allowances, coz, ya know, they're women and that.

Anyway this rules and after watching a few music festivals on telly this year I was actually STUNNED at the COMPLETE lack of women. Does noone think about these things when they're booking?

Thanks for highlighting your issues with the term ‘showcase’; we'll discuss whether it can be substituted for a more appropriate term in the future. In this instance it was used because the whole ITC festival is described as a showcase and, as the only people putting on an all-female line-up, we wanted to make clear that our bands were on the same footing as the hundred or so other bands playing that weekend.

It is shocking how few women play at festivals and we hope that it changes pretty soon!

Sorry for the late reply but the FT mailbox doesn't get checked as often as it should! Please get in touch if you want to participate in the Collective when you’re in Manchester. It’s best to send us a message through our Myspace as its checked most regularly - www.myspace.com/femaletroublemanchester

Thanks, Female Trouble x
