New(ish) theme

So, I was tired of the old layout. The new theme is actually not that new at all, and is taken directly from my last theme on my deadjournal. There it was "Version Sleeping Mars" and here it shall be dubbed "Version Sleeping Prophet". Aheh. Oh, and I'd like to think of it as not being "pink" as being "dusty rose"... Since...you know...I hate ( Read more... )

I wouldn't say that most female anime/manga characters don't like you. I would think quite the opposite. You have a shoujo look to you (tall, thin, expressive eyes) and that is the look that is most craved and sought after by the cosplayers I know.

Hahahaha! No, no... The shoujo look is much shorter and more cute than I. They are, after all, characters fashioned after Japanese girls. Plus, any of the female characters that do have similar body types to me have more in the bust area. It's easier, at my size, to wear something that flattens them than it is to wear something that'll make them look much bigger.

And then there's Utena and Rip, who actually aren't that far off with my body type (even if Utena's profile lists her as 4-5 inches shorter and 20+ pounds heavier o_O??). But, Utena has long (or short, considering the movie) pink hair and Rip has super ultra long black hair. I've got shoulder-length, layered, sandy-blonde hair. So, unless I want to wear a wig like I did while cosplaying Rip, I don't look like either of them.

If you can find a female anime/manga character that matches me as perfectly in physical characteristics as Rei does, then I'd be very, very surprised.

why isn't there an anime??
[elitism]Because, with a few rare exceptions, manga tends to be many times better than the resulting anime.[/elitism]

In all seriousness, it's probably just because there are thousands of manga titles out there, and no possible way to turn every single one of them into anime. =/

And yeah, I've heard of the live action. It's Taiwanese, I think. Meh. I'll just stick to the pretty, pretty manga. Have you read any of the mangaka's other stuff? Like Eternal Sabbath is being released over here, now. It's quite enteresting. Much more scifi than Mars, but still... ^_^

I agree with your elitism. I just hate the fact that two of my alltime favorite titles (Hot Gimmick, Mars) remain without an anime while shit like BoBoBoBoBo and Zatch Bell not only get animated, but whored out to within an inch of their being.

I haven't actually read anything else by her! That's interesting, I'll have to look into that.

And yeah, I forgot to reply to your comment on my LJ yesterday, but Napolean Dynamite was awful. I just want to go back in time about two years and shoot everyone who was quoting it.

Well, also... Anime in Japan is generally considered something for children or super geeks. Manga is the only thing people really care about. You'll see while you're there... Everyone reads manga. Cab drivers, salarymen, teenaged girls...everyone. Anime doesn't make that much money, comparitively. After all, the teen girls that openly read the Mars manga may be a bit more hesitant to watch the anime and risk being made fun of by their peers.

And yeah, ND was just so...awkward. Everything about it. One of my friends was like "It's so great, because it's not like it's scripted! It's so real!" Which confused the fuck out of me, because the entire thing came off as intirely too scripted and staged. And horribly so. :P
