Everyone knows Christmas NiGHTS has some good holiday music, but I found out today from another group that a guy named Dale North remixed a few other songs to Christmas music, like tunes from Mario World (http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00888) and the ( Read more... )

lufia 2 is an awesome game, all for the 100-story randomly generated dungeon.

I think playing Diablo for so much gave me more random dungeon exploring than I could ever want in a lifetime. I'm not a fan of randomness, I quite prefer orderly story. Though ToeJam and Earl was awesome then for its randomness... Randomness made me kinda mad at Dark Cloud 2... I can't stand repitition, unless its a puzzle game. It sounds huge though. I got in kinda late in the SNES days (I bought a SNES when Donkey Kong Country came out in 94, like 3 years after the SNES was out. I was a Sega Genesis gamer, so the only SNES games I played were the ones from Nintendo and Square.

they were the two strongest companies, anyway. i got a super nintendo after one of the street fighter games-- i remember my older brother bringing his over before that. i must have only been 8 or so, and i was entranced, haha. i got one shortly after, and played a LOT of mario world. still a tie between chrono trigger and ffvi for the best SNES game ever, though.

lufia 2 has a linear storyline that's not bad, but at the time the randomly generated dungeon was just so different it was fun. you beat the game twice and you get a mode that has just that dungeon. you go in and you start at level one and find treasures you can only use in that dungeon. the only way out is an item you randomly find on a floor in the 20's range. you use it from the item menu to leave. if you leave using it, you get to keep any treasure from blue treasure chests you find-- and they're rare and powerful treasures. there are also numerous "iris treasures," which serve no functional purpose except to try and collect them all.

Yea, without the nostalgia factor, it doesn't seem like I'd play it for more that a few hours. I tried to play the translated Terrigama a few years ago and didn't get very far before I gave up and played something else. I have a stack of like 10 games I need to finish up sitting in my room.

I had Street Fighter 2 for the Genesis (I think the version released was superior to the SNES one) ... I also really liked Super Metroid and Super Punchout and all 3 Donkey Kong Countries... But FF6 was probably the best overall game for the system. I don't think Mario World was better than Mario 3... Maybe only graphically, but Mario 3 on Mario All-Stars was better.

My favorite SNES games (In order) FF6, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Mario All-Stars, Chrono Trigger, Super Punchout, F-Zero, Mario World... I'm probably missing 1-2, oh well. :) Mostly all just from Nintendo.
